Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
